Travelling to Kermavio

By Ferry.

This is still the most popular method for those coming from the UK or Eire with their car. The nearest ports to us are Roscoff and St. Malo; both of which are less than two hours away. Caen is a little over three hours and Cherbourg is getting on for four hours. Other ports are further with the Chunnel being over seven hours. More if you make stops and in High Season.

If you are coming from the north of England or Scotland, then the long haul ferries from Hull or Rosyth may make sense. Somewhere along the line, you have a long drive in front of you. Perhaps it is better our side of the Channel where the roads are less crowded and petrol and diesel are a lot less expensive. Here is a preview of your options ....

By Air.

More and more people are finding it makes economic sense to fly and hire a car.

Our nearest airports are Lorient (about an hours drive), Rennes and Dinard (both around the hour and a half mark). Brest (an hour forty five) and Nantes (around two hours driving time).

The routes listed below are those of the budget and economy carriers. The more expensive airlines also ply some of the routes. We've not listed them as we didn't feel that prices such as the £950 p.p return from Exeter to Brest (mid February 2011) would interest many, if any, of our guests.

Fly drive.
The upside of fly/hire is a car with the steering wheel on the correct side. By the end of the first day, you will have stopped trying to change gear with the door handle! However, the downside is the airlines weight restrictions. So you won't be able to stock up on cheap wine.

By Road

If you are coming to us from mainland Europe, then it is probably better to bring your car. Although it may be worth your while checking out the cost of flying from your local airport and hiring a car. It may save you a long, tiring drive as well as expense.

From the UK and Eire, it may be worth your while exploring all the options, although if you are three or more adults, the ferries may still be the best.

Whilst we do provide detailed directions, many guests like to play with their sat-nav systems. So the co-ordinates you will need are
Minutes N48° 06.547' W003° 02.968'
Decimal N48.109441 W003.049153

Where our directions and the sat-navs directions differ, you will probably save both time and money if you allow our directions to take precedent.

Our thanks to Ian Attard of Msida, Malta and Fred Jacobs of Manhatten, USA for the co-ordinates.
